Any Plans for Optimized D3?

Does D3 benefit from a specialized delivery, or a particular type of lipid? Seems to be especially synergistic with chocolate.

That’s frustrating—so third-party tested just means their procedures not the actual product? Any ISO 17025 supplement companies yet? Guessing you’ll be the first.

ISO 17025 is for the lab, and we are certainly working on it. I need to separate out our lab operations from our production operations first, though. That's a big part of ISO 17025. The lab needs to be independent. That's tough for us, as our lab is involved in a lot of our R&D and other operations. So I need to intelligently think about how to do it. I don't want to have a separate analytical staff for R&D and production, but I might have to eventually. That's just more overhead. So we will likely get all the other requirements for ISO 17025, then wait till we are ready to separate things out before we actually get the certification. Alkemist received theirs in 2016, and we work with them a lot. All the 3rd party labs we work with now are ISO 17025 or AOAC certified. We are members of the AOAC now as well, and will likely do both the ISO 17025 and ALACC certification when we are ready.

NSF is the certification for production facilities, and we are 99% of the way there. We had a full audit a little over a month ago in preparation for NSF certification. So we are going to get that very soon! NSF for our facility is going to be really really cool. Very few places actually have that. The processes and procedures are very detailed and overhead-intensive, and then you have to pay $25,000 for them to certify you. So only the larger companies do it if they need it for certain contract manufacturing deals. We do a lot of contract manufacturing for other companies now as well, so NSF is a good idea for us.

3rd party tested just means a 3rd party tested it. It doesn't mean that 3rd party is accredited or doing proper analytical chemistry, though. In fact, most of the labs our competitors use are not certified by any accreditation body. Getting data from a 3rd party lab doesn't mean the data is valid. Most companies just want plausible deniability to approve batches. If the number they are given looks good, they don't question it. That's not what we are about.
