Let's talk about the future

After placing my most recent order, I realized that I have spent a lot of money on my experimental hobby. I've started to pick favorites and only use things that seem to work well for me, but only the best things on the market currently are consistently effective. I believe that mankind is ready to begin auto-evolution to some degree, and I want to be part of the result. Most nootropics users I know have a strong belief that nootropics may change the world one day, so why don't we bring change sooner?
Currently there aren't many businesses leading the way in novel products and services. Ceretropic is great, but they can't be the only ones looking for info. The best way to discover and experience more of the world of nootropics is to invest time to learn about different substances and share what you learn. The key to advancing our community is discourse, but lately there had been more shopping for answers that exchange of knowledge.
What they were answering

Take a look at where we are today compared to just 2 years ago. Change has been happening this whole time. However, we still exist in a grey area, with varying levels of risk involved. We also have new players enter the market every day, just to try and capitalize on what they see as a market trend. You also have vendors using shady marketing tactics to try and reach more mainstream customers, which causes issues for how people see nootropics. There are also more and more people looking to abuse certain substances that many people need to feel normal, which brings more unwanted attention and risk. So it is no secret as to why some in the community want to keep things hush hush, and out of the spotlight. I am torn every day on how I feel about the situation.
So I think the discourse has lessened because the people who are in it for the advancement of our understanding of cognition are starting to pull back a bit on what they say. Also, it is a lot easier to make money on tried and true compounds, rather than trying to advance things; not to mention less risky. So as more and more vendors pop up trying to sell things to mainstream users, more and more new people come to the community to ask basic questions. That in turn annoys those more advanced people who are looking to discuss new knowledge or compounds.
But we are living in the future now. We have come a long way. Purity testing is now a major priority for all consumers, forcing vendors to address it. Novel compounds, and improvement on existing ones, are being released all the time. Labs are starting to see the potential in the nootropics market, and are making it easier to get them to take on new synthesis projects. Two years ago, did I think I would be able to walk into the next room, and run purity testing in a matter of minutes? Hell no. But now I can, and it is exciting as hell! So even if we could be doing better from an exchange of knowledge standpoint, there is no doubt we are advancing as a community. But I do think some more organized and intelligent discussions would be nice.
