Magnesium Threonate

So I was about to reorder my normal Magnesium when I stumbled on Mag Threonate and this study: http://www.drperlmutter.com/study/enhancement-learning-memory-elevating-brain-magnesium/
The study is pretty convincing and I'd love to try this form of Mag, but everywhere I've found it, it is expensive and is a relatively small dose. Most are 150mg which is only ~25% of the dose used in the study if I read correctly. This means spending multiple dollars a day on Mag.. redic. Is such a dose necessary? Is the price worth it?
EDIT: I did find a cheaper place on Amazon after a bit more searching but it's still not cheap. Going to give it a try anyway.

In all my magnesium trials, I did not find any perceivable difference between L-threonate, glycinate, malate, or citrate; other than price. I have settled on magnesium glycinate, since it is cheap and works well.
