Noopept, alcohol, and hangovers

After reading about them for a while, I finally decided to give nootropics a try and see what all the fuss is about. I started fairly aggressively, ordering 5g of Noopept, 10 g of phenylpiracetam, and a bunch of L-theanine, all from LiftMode. So far I've only taken the Noopept and L-theanine, since I'm waiting for my choline to arrive before trying the phenyl.
I tried Noopept for the first time yesterday, taking 30 mg orally in water, but then another 30 mg sublingually about an hour later when I read that's a better method (which based on the literature is debatable). While I did feel my focus to be slightly enhanced, I am wary that that may be a placebo effect, and that the benefits of Noopept are said to be gradual and cumulative.
What I simply cannot chalk up to a placebo is the effect it had on me when I got bombed (or rather should have gotten bombed) last night. I drank eight beers and two generous glasses of Maker's Mark over the course of five hours while watching a couple movies and hanging out with my girlfriend. I'm no stranger to drinking for fun, and I know my limits. This was well beyond them, and yet I felt none of the fuzziness or lack of focus…

Thanks for answering my question.
I hope you won't find this question offensive: aren't you concerned about the health consequences of taking a substance if you have no idea how pure it is? Maybe yadayada's pitolisant was created using some process that leaves a toxic chemical as residue. Maybe it's not even pitolisant? Wake-promoting substances appear to be very susceptible to the placebo effect...

No offense taken. I am definitely concerned about that. However, it's not in my best interest to test Yadayada's sample, when he won't give me his source. Then I would be paying for a test for a supplier that I will not be able to order from again.
We have another sample of pitolisant from a different supplier. If that one looks to be legitimate, then we will pay to test that. That way our business can have a supplier with a known pure product. We ordered a little from Yadayada as a reference, and to help the group buy move along.
