Ashwagandha - adverse effects

Original post in this thread

After much reading, i considered trying Ashwagandha to help with my feelings of anxiety/depression and somewhat lack of motivation. However, after trying it for 4~ days, i seem to experience more feelings of depression/anhedonia. Also makes me somewhat tired. So I'm simple wondering if anyone else had some adverse effects with this herb, could it go away? Being an adaptogen, maybe things will balance out. Had much more hope in this herb :/

I've been dosing 1 caplet of these in the morning (and some day 1 in the evening as well) http://www.iherb.com/Himalaya-Herbal-Healthcare-Ashwagandha-60-Caplets/3691

Also, I've been taking L-theanine and caffeine with it through out the day.

Alright, the theanine might interact badly then! Will drop it while i try the Ashwagandha. Anyways, considering this herb be an adaptogen, have anyone noticed any cumulative effects? I mean doesn't it need to be taken for a longer period of time to get the best benefits of it?

Generally, adaptogens get more effective over time. They help regulate and level out your body's natural systems. So yes, it should level out over time. I always take bacopa and rhodiola with my ahswagandha. They seem to help balance each other out.
