Ashwagandha - adverse effects

Original post in this thread

After much reading, i considered trying Ashwagandha to help with my feelings of anxiety/depression and somewhat lack of motivation. However, after trying it for 4~ days, i seem to experience more feelings of depression/anhedonia. Also makes me somewhat tired. So I'm simple wondering if anyone else had some adverse effects with this herb, could it go away? Being an adaptogen, maybe things will balance out. Had much more hope in this herb :/

I've been dosing 1 caplet of these in the morning (and some day 1 in the evening as well) http://www.iherb.com/Himalaya-Herbal-Healthcare-Ashwagandha-60-Caplets/3691

Also, I've been taking L-theanine and caffeine with it through out the day.

I seem to find that stacking it with L-theanine is too sedating. I only really add it in if I am doing a stimulant stack.

Has anyone tried phenibut F.A.A. (free amino acid)?

Replying to oct5 · Commenting to come back to this later, as I've been looking into Phenibut to reduce golf tournament anxiety. OP, any feedback on the Phenibut HCL?

Haha, such a first world problem! Golf tournament anxiety. You could also try adding in L-theanine or valarian root. Adaptogens like ashwagandha would help too, and would have less side effects than phenibut.

Best nootropic for stage fright?

Something that modulates the GABA system. L-theanine would be good. Ashwagandha is a good one as well.
