Ashwagandha - adverse effects

After much reading, i considered trying Ashwagandha to help with my feelings of anxiety/depression and somewhat lack of motivation. However, after trying it for 4~ days, i seem to experience more feelings of depression/anhedonia. Also makes me somewhat tired. So I'm simple wondering if anyone else had some adverse effects with this herb, could it go away? Being an adaptogen, maybe things will balance out. Had much more hope in this herb :/
I've been dosing 1 caplet of these in the morning (and some day 1 in the evening as well) http://www.iherb.com/Himalaya-Herbal-Healthcare-Ashwagandha-60-Caplets/3691
Also, I've been taking L-theanine and caffeine with it through out the day.

It can work great with irritability form a stimulant like modafinil but if you allready have anhedonia than it will make it worse.
I would take ahswagandha when I feel psychologically agitated maybe before a talk or so because then I will be where I should be anxiety wise without being sedated.

Exactly. I add it in if I am taking ephedrine or a more powerful stimulant. I respond well to stimulants as it is, since I am a naturally tired person. Adding in L-theanine and ahswagandha alone makes me fall asleep.
