Energy and IQ - A common mechanism?

Original post in this thread

Note: when I say IQ I'm talking about only the reason making sections similar to Advance Progressive Matrices/Raven Matrices.

There are very few studies showing interventions that increase IQ/Raven Matrices/APM but it seems that among those that do there may be a common mechanism. That mechanism seems to be increased neuronal metabolism.

Creatine has also been shown to increase performance on the Raven Matrices test, for vegetarians and meat eaters alike 1 2. There is some talk about creatine not being a cognitive enhancer for meat-eaters, but its IQ increasing effects have never been refuted only its effects on less demanding tasks. Given creatine seems to be an energy buffer, it seems entirely plausible that it wouldn't affect less intensive tasks. The supposed null result from creatine didn't measure anything related to IQ and was specifically designed to be able to find only the most robust effect, given its tiny sample size 3.

Then there's Ceretrophin™ which…

The mechanisms for neuronal energy expenditure are most definitely linked to IQ. After neuronal firing, before any further cascading electrical signals can propagate, the protein pumps must decrease intracellular calcium and sodium levels to return the neuron to a resting state. ATP must not only be used by the pumps, but the raw materials must be transported into the cells to allow this process to happen. This is why creatine supplementation can lead to increased cognition, as well as thing like ALCAR, CoQ10, etc. Improving the body's process for the creation and transport of ATP is crucial to the puzzle.

The mixture of alpha lipoic acid and ALCAR has been proven to be a very synergistic stack. Include creatine, rhodiola, and CoQ10, and you have a pretty damn good stack to supplement energy production. I actually took all of those supplements today, and I feel a definite increase and mental and physical energy.

Has anyone tried Excelerol? I'm interested in trying it because it is apparently one of the best nootropics out there, but I'm a bit suspicious because I've never heard anyone talk about it on this subreddit.
