Its been a while since anyone has posted about this but what do you guys honestly think of nicotine use (patch, gum, ecig, etc.) as a nootropic? What are the positives and negatives?

Your comment isn't out of place because of whether it is correct or not (it is), but because you responded to my comment with a fairly irrelevant explanation of MAOIs and neurotransmitters that is written like a textbook.
Responding with "The MAOIs in tobacco probably make people think Nicotine is more potent than it is" would have been conversation, you just came across lecturing (which isn't bad in and of itself, but that was out of place).

Sorry if my wording was too stiff. That was the point I was making, though. I guess the very detailed conversations I have been having on /r/DrugNerds have made me automatically start typing like I am writing a thesis.
But you see my point, correct? People's addictions to tobacco are much more complicated than just aceytlcholine. This is why 90% of smokers who quit, start back up again within a year. People are really addicted to the increased dopamine and serotonin in their systems, with the nicotine as merely an additional factor. It's also why people that chew nicotine gum don't really see a huge difference, and why, in my personal opinion, chewing Nicorette is silly. If you are looking to enhance your acetylcholine system, why not use a substance that does not rapidly ~~down-regulate~~ desensitize ACH receptors?
