Hey guys. So yesterday I took acid for the first time. During the trip I was just totally perplexed with the idea of what tripping is. Fractals everywhere and things were moving. When I first realized I was tripping it was like a whole new world. I noticed I kept having to tell myself "this is a drug, it will wear off in a matter of hours". I also kept checking the time. So basically, I think I had a bad trip. My problem is, today, I'm totally freaked out. I feel like my innocence has been taken away from me or something, and things aren't as "sincere". I keep having almost waves of anxiety or something, followed by rationalizing the fact that I took a new substance yesterday and this is normal. Druggit, is this normal? Please share your experiences with bad trips and how you dealt with them. I really just need to talk to someone about this. Thank you guys much love

Edit: I also feel like I'm not feeling emotions to their full extent. I can accept the fact that this is because of a drug I took, but will I go back to feeling like my happy self within a few days?

Here's the biggest problem with people and their first trips: they don't know what to expect and aren't in the right state to handle a first trip.

I'll begin by saying that all psychedelics (mushrooms, LSD, DOx, 2C-X, DMT, Mescaline, etc) are all mental uppers. Much like meth, coke, and adderall are physical uppers. Increasing your brain activity by a certain percentage, rather than your core temperature, heart rate, breathing, etc.

When I began tripping, I would absolutely REFUSE acid. Only shrooms. I first started with 1.5 grams of shrooms with my best friend sitting outside my house. He hadn't had the best trips before but I wanted to try it with him since he was vaguely experienced. All was going well until he saw a plane flying above him and began to think it was a UFO coming to abduct him. I somehow managed to calm him down, and began talking about pot and how sensimilla is genetically altered. He then got into his mind that it was genetically altered by the government to control us, and would only stick to mid-grade from there on out. Turns out he's studying to be a pastor at a Christian college and doesn't do anything but Church.

This perplexed me on how such a drug can have an utmost influence on how the brain works. I began experimenting. Taking 2g, 3g, up to 6g weekly (mainly on weekends outside of responsibilities mind you). When I couldn't get my hands on mushi…

Actually, psychedelics DECREASE brain activity in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC). This dampens the brain's ability to suppress unfamiliar thoughts. This is why psychedelics seem to open the mind and increase perception. It's not increasing brain activity, it's decreasing it.
