Exxon has a number of intra-company newsletters that provide voter guides and advice on which politicians are Exxon-friendly. The "Exxon Lamp" is one of them - it serves both employees and shareholders, and regularly provides advice.

There are also a few managers that are politically active. Showing support for their pet politicians is a great way to climb the corporate ladder.

That is pretty crazy! I have never heard of this. Does it feel like your career might be affected if you show support for the wrong candidate?

While I agree, the poverty line here in the US is slightly higher than many countries. I've seen things in Egypt, Mexico, India, Africa etc. that are on a whole other scale.
