I’ve seen some speculation on here that quercetin’s role as a zinc ionophore can cause a zinc/copper imbalance in some people, and copper lies in a critical path for collagen synthesis. I have no idea if that makes sense, as I don’t have a great understanding of Quercetin’s method of action and haven’t read any papers that make this anything more than a speculation.
I also had a neuro who mentioned I had a minor copper deficiency years ago, well before I was into nootropics. Maybe I’m more susceptible to zinc promoting compounds, though I feel a little hesitant to mess with Zinc/Copper, and living in NY I don’t have good access to cheap direct labs to do a data driven approach.
I’m wondering if /u/MisterYouAreSoDumb or nootropics depot folks have any commentary. OptiNAD and quercetin definitely produce some nice effects for me, but definitely not worth joint pain.

That is interesting! I will have to research a bit more. The zinc ionophore mechanism from quercetin affecting collagen synthesis could be it. I've never noticed it, but I also take white jelly mushroom everyday. That helps with collagen synthesis. Another mechanism might be blocking estrogen.
Too low of E2 can cause joint pain. Perhaps your E2 levels are naturally lower, and the quercetin is pushing you too far. Have you ever had a hormone panel done? It might be a good idea to see where your numbers are at.
