Is there any benefit to lack of standardizing (e.g. entourage effect)? This is a question for Maca, in this case, but ND as a whole seems hellbent on finding THE specific ingredient in an herb, for example, and pumping up the percentage of that. I'm just curious if this is the best way to go about things?
Clearly you guys are very particular about your work and are science-based, so I trust you do things with purpose. I figured I'd pick your brain about this nonetheless!

There is certainly merit to the entourage effect in many cases. It also depends on what you are looking to achieve. With this maca, I wanted to create a really potent one that hit the endocannabinoid system, but didn't cause stomach upset. I have a really bad time with maca regarding my GI tract, and even gelatinized ones cause me lots of pain these days. I wanted to create a maca that I would want to use, which is why we focused on the macamides. However, there are other things in maca that have effects. There are glucosinolates, alkaloids, and isothiocyanates, along with vitamins and minerals that could give people other effects. The macamides are just the most unique ones to maca, and the ones that hit the cannabinoid system. We are also working on another maca product that will be more full spectrum. It will still be standardized, though. I do think standardization is the only way to ensure consistency over time.
