Edit: Check out MYASD's reply. Tl;dr is it's super shitty timing but their costs went up a lot so it sucks for everyone, no shadiness here.
I had my cart already picked out ahead of the sale (lol) and I just went in to add one more thing I forgot and noticed that a large number of items went up in price, some of them by a good bit too.
What they were answering

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but even with a totally legitimate rationale this does feel pretty crappy in terms of proximity to the sale. I myself (and I know many others) have been holding off on purchases for the last several months, so this stings in multiple ways. Just throwing totally random ideas out, I feel like something like a 'mild' (3-5%) stackable coupon would go a long way as a minor apology to the community. Not because I'm a money-first kind of person, but just because I feel like there are few other effectual ways to handle this kind of thing.
I'm at work right now finishing up some time-sensitive things, but can follow up with more depth and nuance on this comment and what I mean when I get home in a few hours.

I unequivocally feel you. It's not something I take lightly. I knew when I made the tough decision to adjust that we would be here having this conversation right now. I just had no idea how bad the cost overrun situation had become. I had no idea with the extra hidden costs we were close to actually losing money on some sizes of products. That's 100% on me, though. I should have had a better grasp on all these extra costs that have shot up. I should have been quicker to assess and adjust knowing how crazy things are right now. I have just been focused on smoothing out the supply chain issues and actually keeping things in stock. The last few months has been pretty tough. Going out of stock on our top selling product, and a bunch of other high selling ones, has not been fun. Then losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in inbound raw material shipments just added more fuel for the fire. The shipments we didn't lose were stuck in customs for 60 days or more. Then the cost of literally everything shooting up before we can even react was just the knife in the side. It's been one dumpster fire after another since the pandemic started. I had hoped by now the supply chain would be trending towards more normalcy, but shit just keeps accelerating towards more challenges. Frustrated doesn't even begin to explain how my team and I feel. Everyone is exhausted just trying to keep things moving forward.
I definitely understand the frustration at the situation. Anyone that has been putting off ordering and is upset at things should PM me. I will take care of you with store credit or something. I really am not trying to pull a fast one or take advantage of anyone. I of all people know how quickly the community notices when we change things, and I would never throw people's trust they have put in me in the toilet for short term gains. This is something we should have predicted and addressed months ago, but all the other fires took our attention away. I apologize for that. I really just wish we could get back to normal. Even before the pandemic started things were getting weird. Now it is like we've been running a marathon, but we're at 30 miles already and we the finish line keeps getting farther away.
