Edit: Check out MYASD's reply. Tl;dr is it's super shitty timing but their costs went up a lot so it sucks for everyone, no shadiness here.
I had my cart already picked out ahead of the sale (lol) and I just went in to add one more thing I forgot and noticed that a large number of items went up in price, some of them by a good bit too.
What they were answering

Thank you for all that information, u/MisterYouAreSoDumb. Your transparency and good intentions are why I am willing to pay the extra costs and not go with someone cheaper instead. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it in such depth.

It's my pleasure! I really do hate having to do shit like this. We are just in a very strange period right now, and my usual strategy of keeping things the same as long as we can and riding out the storm isn't possible at the moment. If we did what most places do, and constantly altered our pricing regularly as things changed, we wouldn't have to do significant changes all at once. That would just smooth out the increases over a longer time period, though. The end result would be the same. We can't have such big changes to costs and massive supply shocks without retail prices being affected. What really pisses me off is that these tariffs were put in by executive order. They can be removed just as easily by executive order, yet they haven't even touched them. In fact, they added more customs enforcement, which has exacerbated shipping delays, which just increases the costs. The Biden admin could reduce costs for consumers overnight if he wanted to. Just repeal the tariffs and that's a big drop in costs right there.
