Has taking nootropics changed the way you perceive reality?

Has your nootropic use changed the way you perceive or react to reality? Has it changed your understanding of reality as a concept as well?

For example, I’ve noticed that I have been a lot more confident in general after taking Phenibut or phenylethylamine, even after I stopped taking it. I used to be insecure and think that people were making fun of me. I guess after trying those nootropics, I realized that there was more ways to perceive the current moment than what I was used to. So, instead of thinking that people bullied me I started thinking that they really like me. I realized that neither is more true than the other because I have no idea what anybody is actually thinking. So why not choose one thats more positive? After adopting that mindset on and off nootropics, more people began to like me and my charm amplified. It’s to the point where I’m secure and I don’t care about other people’s thoughts.

My point is that my use of nootropics have made me consider point of views that I wouldn’t have before and understand all of the little ways one can actually perceive reality.

I so agree! However, where's the financial incentive for the companies that would be doing the research? That's The gimmick that I can't get past. If I figure that out, I'm sure I can rally support from within my grad program and beyond.

To be accepted as legitimate, you need FDA backing (right or wrong, just the way it is! So many closeminded folks out there.) Once you have that, you just need a financial incentive. This is the problem that I have been seeing. However, I can say that small but noticeable changes have begun within the industry.

Public funding of research would be done through government grants. It's done that way today, but we need to expand that program. The financial incentive would be to advance science, and for the public good. The government would choose which studies to give grants to by an independent review board made up of scientists and researchers. The researchers would be doing it because they want to advance science, and they would be paid through the grants.

The FDA doesn't back anything. In the drug world they approve specific things for specific diseases, but they are not backing anything. They certainly don't back anything in the supplement space. The idea and mandate of the FDA is a good one, but the implementation is flawed. That's a whole can of worms that needs unfucking to ever get anywhere productive.

Private funding of studies is never going to get us where we need to go. Inevitably it will only push for things that are patentable and profitable. Science doesn't give a shit about patents and all that, though. Science is the quest for truth, and something the truth is not profitable. That's why we need public funding. We have to divorce the two from each other.
