Has your nootropic use changed the way you perceive or react to reality? Has it changed your understanding of reality as a concept as well?
For example, I’ve noticed that I have been a lot more confident in general after taking Phenibut or phenylethylamine, even after I stopped taking it. I used to be insecure and think that people were making fun of me. I guess after trying those nootropics, I realized that there was more ways to perceive the current moment than what I was used to. So, instead of thinking that people bullied me I started thinking that they really like me. I realized that neither is more true than the other because I have no idea what anybody is actually thinking. So why not choose one thats more positive? After adopting that mindset on and off nootropics, more people began to like me and my charm amplified. It’s to the point where I’m secure and I don’t care about other people’s thoughts.
My point is that my use of nootropics have made me consider point of views that I wouldn’t have before and understand all of the little ways one can actually perceive reality.

The thing with reality is that everyone here is creating their own, whether they realize it or not. Reality is perception. The only reality that actually exists for us as individuals comes from within. We create our own reality based off the external stimuli we are exposed to. It is very reductionist to assume that a specific compound can change the way you perceive reality. The substance itself is not doing that. You are. Certain substances can make it easier to do, but that shift in reality is coming from inside yourself. It is an interplay between the substance, your reaction to it, and your conscious choice to shift because of it. One person can take a strong altering substance and get nothing from it, while another person can take a seemingly innocuous one and be completely changed. It all lies within the person themself. This is why a question like yours can be polarizing and seem absurd to some people. The change in your perception of reality is all you. Certain substances are tools in that process, but you are the driver. We don't say a hammer or a drill built a table. We say the carpenter did. He used a hammer, drill, saw, and other tools to get there. However, he or she was the one creating it. Your reality is your creation. Once you come to that realization, you can start purposely shifting it without any substance. It is an immensely freeing realization to come to, and I hope more people do.
