Exogenous Ketones are a nootropic, even without ketogenic diet

A ketogenic diet has nootropic effects on the brain. People have reported improved mental clarity while on the diet. It’s also good for warding off dementia and possibly improving other mental illnesses. see paper. As a bonus, it also has anti-cancer effects.
A ketogenic diet is a difficult commitment, at least for lazy people like me. But as it turns out, if you consume exogenous ketones, your cells will use them, even if you are not doing the ketogenic diet.
According to this paper “In vivo study of ketone supplementation (BHB) decreased tumor growth and prolonged subject survival independent of other dietary inclusions.”
And this paper says “oral exogenous ketone supplementation in inducing nutritional ketosis independent of dietary restriction.”
One guideline on doing this; one paper suggests that it’s best to consume your exogenous ketones before eating non-keto food. Otherwise, less of the ketones are absorbed.
My one safety concern is that exoge…

Rhonda Patrick (u/rperciav) did a video with Satchin Panda who works on circadian rhythm. He said coffee counted with regard to time-restricted feeding, but when she pressed him he was too vague ('something something liver...'). I wonder what's due to just caloric restriction, and what leads him to say something more is happening involving circadian rhythm.
I've been intermittent fasting and low carb or keto for 10+ years (with some brief carb experiments here and there). I'll eat for a few hours in the evening maybe 4 or 5pm to 8 or 9pm. The circadian rhythm folks seem to think late eating is 'bad' but I'd like to know why.

Truthfully I don't know. I sleep perfectly fine with late eating, and track it every night on my Oura ring. So I am inclined to think it does not have as big of an effect as some people claim it does.
