Exogenous Ketones are a nootropic, even without ketogenic diet

A ketogenic diet has nootropic effects on the brain. People have reported improved mental clarity while on the diet. It’s also good for warding off dementia and possibly improving other mental illnesses. see paper. As a bonus, it also has anti-cancer effects.

A ketogenic diet is a difficult commitment, at least for lazy people like me. But as it turns out, if you consume exogenous ketones, your cells will use them, even if you are not doing the ketogenic diet.

According to this paper “In vivo study of ketone supplementation (BHB) decreased tumor growth and prolonged subject survival independent of other dietary inclusions.”

And this paper says “oral exogenous ketone supplementation in inducing nutritional ketosis independent of dietary restriction.”

One guideline on doing this; one paper suggests that it’s best to consume your exogenous ketones before eating non-keto food. Otherwise, less of the ketones are absorbed.

L-Theanine :) You know this, common! This is a nootropics forum haha :)

Jk, but yes, L-Theanine is the ultimate nootropic and should be in every stack unless you have bad effects with it.

Caffeine and L-Theanine is my daily stack and my base, I then add to it accordingly based on the events of my day. Long day with lots of customer interactions, Caff, L-Theanine, Aniracetam, Lion's Mane, 300mg Uridine MP, 250mg CDP Choline, ready to go! Got long day of computer work and only got 4-5hours of sleep last night? 800mg Oxiracetam to rescue myself from sleep deprivation, Caff, Theanine, 100mg Phenylpiracetam, 250mg CDP Choline.

I actually spoke in detail on fasting, and what can break it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NootropicsDepot/comments/fwoh89/ltheanine_tablet_and_fasting/fmpnxj4/

Some amino acids are known as glucogenic amino acids. They can be broken down into glucose by the process of gluconeogenesis. These are alanine, arginine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, gutamine, glycine, histidine, methionine, proline, serine, and valine. So taking any of those amino acids could lead to an increase in glucose, which could lead to a spike in insulin, which could lead to a reduction in glucagon, which could stop autophagy. L-theanine has the ability to break down into glutamic acid. That glutamic acid can then convert to glutamine, which can eventually become glucose. So the mechanism is at least there for L-theanine to possibly affect a fast.

Then I would go the route people are suggesting. Move to aniracetam next. Then you can try oxiracetam and pramiracetam after. You'll feel those a lot more than the piracetam. Then you can branch out from there if you wan
