Bacopa Monnieri - Standardised extracts (e.g Synapsa) and HPLC measurements

Hello,

I was wondering the following. Most studies on Bacopa use the Synapsa variant and state a dose of ~300mg with 50-55% bacosides.

Now, considering that that bacoside percentage is derived NOT through the accurate HPLC measurement but through UV-spectrophotometry, one can easily demonstrate that e.g Synapsa is, in fact, NOT 50-55% Bacosides but more like ~8% (for an example, see here).

Due to this, if one were to buy a product that claims 50% bacosides by HPLC, would it be reasonable to lower the bacopa recommended dosage by 5 times? So, instead of 300mg used in studies, the HPLC-measured variant would only be 60mg.

A second question I have is this: considering it's the same herb, how is it possible that some people have experienced problems with the non-Synapsa version of Bacopa? What could the Synapsa version have that the "generic" bacopa doesn't that could cause different reactions in the same person?

The question is, do you think anybody else will analyse the way you do? That's the scary thing, that you appear to be the only company investing in analysis of your products to this extent. You shame well established brands with your testing methodologies.

I find interesting products such as Tesseract ProButyrate which appears to be a unique patented preparation of Butyrate using Butanoic acid instead of Butyric Salt and the delivery mechanism is called Cyloc, yet after what I read about your methods it makes me seriously doubt other vendors. Plus if you ever get time then a Butanoic Acid supplement would be welcome :)

Don't trust any of the BS out there. We have run into so much bullshit, and from BIG companies I never thought would be an issue. We had one company try to explain away the results by saying that we needed to run their "super special" methods to get the actual numbers. So we told them to give them to us and we would. They eventually gave us the worst fucking analytical methods I have ever seen. Might as well have been a first year chemistry student waking up the day his lab work was due and piecing it together in a couple hours. My lab director couldn't stop laughing when we got it.

That looks like they are just mixing it with α-Cyclodextrin. I don't see a patent for it. In fact, I think they might be in violation of this patent.

That's probably why they are a bit vague and weird in their wording. They don't want Mead Johnson Nutrition Co, the owners of the linked patent, to find out. It could also be total BS, too. I'd have to test it.
