Where does Choline actually come from?

Does anyone know more about the choline production cycle? Been looking around and not one supplier of Choline says where it's actually derived from. Where does the supplemental form come from?
Being mindful of the production cycle, buying generic citicholine or alpha-gpc could be supporting industrial farming of animal body parts turned into supplements. If I'm buying bulk, I don't want to support these systems.
Here's what I do know:
1. There are many natural sources checking wikipedia like beef liver, cauliflower, eggs.
2. Cognizin claims it's vegetarian but it's expensive, and non-bulk.
Some questions:
1. Can you call up suppliers and actually find out how they source it?
2. Is it widespread practice to just source from animal parts, or eggs?

Thank you for clarifying this, I'm relieved that it's not animal derived. Do you know if it's fairly energy intensive to do these type of processed to produce CDP and Alpha GPC? Is there a place I can read more about the process and how it's done? Did some googling but nothing explaining the process specifically.

The best place to really search these things are Google Scholar and Google Patents. You have to dig a lot, as most places try to keep their processes pretty private, to prevent competition.
I do not think the syntheses are particularly energy-intensive. It's not like steel making or anything like that.
