Ganoderma lucidum (Red Reishi)

I see plenty of anecdotal reports that this is excellent for anxiety and mood. Any actual information on this mechanism seems sparse. There's plenty of information on it's interaction with the immune system.
I took it for a few weeks and did seem to notice an improvement in mood. I'm wondering what effects Red Reishi could have on neurotransmitters. Mushrooms are still very new to me but they have me interested.

The mood/memory effects are most likely due to its antioxidant/neuroprotective effects; specifically the protection of dopaminergic neurons.

Red Reishi administration also increases sleep time, which can help with mood and memory.

Another study showed that a water extract of the mycelium of Reishi had antidepressant effects from the antagonism of 5-HT2A receptors.
