got scammed by Ceretropic card processor

Original post in this thread

Card processor took about 4 tries before the it finally went through wasting about a half hour of my time. And then my order never showed up in their system yet money was taken out of my account. That's what you get for using a sketchy off shore processor.. And that cover up about how their competitors were calling the card processors is obviously a blatant lie.

Terrible website... Good products

What they were answering

I like ceretropic but the processor does not serve its purpose fine. I used it several months ago and then immediately, and I mean within minutes I had fraudulent charges showing up. My bank reimbursed me and the people at ceretropic were fine but this was more than just a glitch. It was credit card fraud.

My credit card has been stolen 4 times this year. FOUR TIMES. I never run it on our processor, and only use it on extremely reliable vendors. Capital One admitted to me on a call that their servers were hacked at one point. It happens all the time, and does not need to come from an actual transaction. Do you really think people stealing card numbers would use it within minutes of the transaction they stole it from? That's not how they work. They usually wait weeks/month, then do a couple small transactions to see if they will go through. Then they jump to a large one. Furthermore, they are in China. Why would they use it at Domino's pizza minutes after running it for our order? That makes no sense. And lids.com? They bought hats and shipped them to China, right after they got a Domino's pizza? I'm sure they can get much cheaper hats in China directly. If they were selling card numbers, it would take a lot longer than minutes for actual charges to show up.

Credit card numbers are stolen all the time, from many different sources. I get that our processor is not ideal, and has a lot of technical glitches. However, there is no evidence of any security breeches resulting in stolen card numbers. I've been over this time and again with them. Coincidences happen, and it's easy to look at the processor that is offshore to blame. I tried to figure out why my card was stolen 4 different times, but there were no common links I could see. Then the Capital One customer service rep told me about some hacks in their systems, and it made sense. Could your issues stem from our transaction? I suppose it is possible. However, the details do not make sense, and it is not a trend reported to us in any frequency. I honestly think it was just a coincidence in this case.
