Cognitive Benefits for Longvida Curcumin?

Original post in this thread

Has anyone that's taken Longvida Curcumin actually noticed any mood/cognitive benefits or does it mainly just help with inflammation? I'm considering adding it to my stack but want to make sure it's worth the cost, which is pretty high compared to many supplements.

edit: I just wanted to add that I'm not looking for suggestions on other supplements or forms of curcumin to take for inflammation. I already take boswellia to reduce inflammation. I'm asking specifically about any cognitive effects from the Longvida extract since it crosses the BBB.

Excellent, thanks. So why do you think longvida, the form that has been shown have the highest circulating free curcumin not have systemic AI effects on me and many others, while something like BCM-95 is said to work like a 24/7 ibuprofen (100% anecdotal evidence on anabolic minds forums)? They were all taking 800mg by the way (160 actual longvida).

I am not sure. When I take Longvida, I get strong systemic anti-inflammatory action, as do a few people I have asked about it. So for me, it has been working as expected. However, I have not tried BCM-95. So I cannot say that will not work better subjectively. I plan to, though. Also, I plan to get in some Meriva to test as well. Perhaps they will lead to even stronger subjective effects. However, the scientific data all points to free curcumin being the most effective compound.

Meriva is just a curcumin phytosome with phosphatidylcholine. BCM-95 is just curcumin with the natural tumeric oils left in. Longvida uses a lecithin and stearic acid complex to surround the curcumin particles. The goal is to prevent the curcumin from metabolizing in the stomach and liver, so that it can reach the blood stream, and in Longvida's case, the brain. We have data showing that Longvida raises free curcumin levels in the blood and brain higher than anyone else, and studies showing free curcumin is the most potent compound for lowering inflammation. Perhaps there are other subjective effects at play? Maybe, in BCM-95's case, the tumeric essential oils have other compounds in them that are helping? I'll have to try it out for myself.
