Probiotics and fermented foods

I read a lot about articles on probiotics and fermented foods (kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, etc.) and wanted to try it for mood and cognition.
I would like to know if any of you tried probiotics or fermented foods and what were the effects?

I'm trying to get answers to this myself, since I hear nothing but praise for something like EpiCor. But I refuse to buy it, since it's really expensive in Europe, even though /u/MisterYouAreSoDumb has a lot of positive things to say about it.
I was thinking that maybe the EpiCor yeast strain, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, might be beneficial and the cause of a lot of its immune modulating effects. Alas, I wouldn't know and there isn't a lot of discussion going on in this sub about Probiotics generally.

The use of oral Saccharomyces Cerevisiae has some evidence for immune boosting effects in some animals. It might work in humans too. It's worth a shot.
Any reason you don't just order Epicor from us, and have it shipped? If you order the 180ct capsule jar, it's only $8.33/month, or $10/month with shipping.
