The Niagen product uses nicotinamide in the fermentation process to increase the NR yield. The end result is that the NR that they sell also has a high level of nicotinamide. I don't remember the pathways involved with NR, NAD+, and nicotinamide, but if I remember correctly, the nicotinamide interferes with NAD+ production. So Niagen's NR (plus nicotinamide) may not be all that effective.

That could be the case. I can get pure Nicotinamide Riboside. However, the cost is ridiculously high for a chemical synthesis. Not sure if it is worth trying out.
