So, if I'm reading right, and that's always a dangerous assumption, then time of administration is fairly immaterial, since it's affecting overall long term balance through short term expression? It doesn't sedate or wake me at all, unless I've just not gone high enough up on it (400mcg+ insufflated).

Well they are saying that Selank acts allosterically, and alters the expression of various genes that control receptors, transporters, and binding affinities of things like GABA, dopamine, serotonin, and orexin. These effects were measured in the short term. They would need to measure the expression changes at longer intervals to see how long the changes last. I am sure most of the expression changes even themselves out after a bit, making another dose of Selank necessary to get the effects again.
