What hasn't worked for you

It feels like I've tried just about everything out there and find that very very few substances actually have any effect that I can definitively confirm to myself as being a direct action from whatever I ingest. I'd even be happier if I'd gotten some side effects at least there would be some sign of efficacy at least. What hasn't worked for you and what was the biggest letdown ?

* Noopept
Obviously had some sort of effect, but it was in no way a positive one. Terrible short term memory.
* Aniracetam
Only time I took a substance and felt absolutely the same.
* Memantine
I woouldn't say that it didn't work, my tolerance to Adderall was certainly noticeably lower than it was before I had taken it, but it wrecks havoc on my cognition at any amount. Probably the biggest letdown since it does treat my tinnitus better than anything else (oh god music sounds so much better without ringing).
Everything else I've tried (no order: piracetam, oxiracetam, semax, picamilon, phenibut, l-theanine, lion's mane, selank, 4-FA, adrafinil, creatine, acetyl-l-tyrosine, mixed amphetamine salts, caffeine, ashwagandha, kava, St. John's wort, tianeptine, and various cholines. Probably some others that aren't in my line of sight) have all had some noticeable effect, most positive, at least acutely.

I am going to get nitromemantine soon. That is going to be more selective for the NMDA receptor, which should lower the nACh side effects. I am also considering dextrorphan. That will give the power of DXM, without the serotonergic side effects.
