Unfortunately, I have some bad news. Jason (/u/Guacamolium), my business partner and co-founder of Ceretropic has died. He was found dead in his apartment on Friday afternoon. He had not come in for a few days, and was not answering his phone. I got a little worried, so /u/Synzael and I decided to go check on him. After he did not answer, we decided to get the police to come down. When they entered his apartment, they found him dead inside.
The toxicology screen will not be back for a few weeks. However, Jason had been having a few problems with Xanax and drinking. He was never one to be careful with his own safety, and would often have horrible insomnia. This led to him turning to Xanax and alcohol to try and get a little bit of sleep some nights. I let him know how irresponsible that was, but he never really got the message. There were a few occasions that I found him passed out after taking too much. I made him get into a substance abuse program, which he had been going to regularly. However, I never felt he was taking it seriously enough. I had hoped that he had things under control, but always feared that something would happen. I just figured it would be him getting in trou…

Nothing i can say that has already been said in this sub already but sorry for for your loss.
In the benzo sub there is a bit of a fight going on because someones prescription did not say Xanax and Alcohol are a bad combo: http://www.reddit.com/r/benzodiazepines/comments/2l12c9/alcohol_may_intensify_the_effect/
I highly doubt if they read the PIL it would say avoid alcohol completely but i digress.
To anyone is a similar boat Xanax is not a good hypnotic and there are far safer and better working Benzo's and Z-drugs out there. Hyplon is a good one and has a short method of action. When choosing Benzo's they have overlapping effects some are more hypnotic (good for sleep) some better anti anxiety (i.e xanax).
Mixing Beer with Benzo's, Z-drugs or Phenibut is not a good idea and unfortunately this tragic loss is likely to show that.
I wish he has posted something sooner as i have had some pretty severe bouts of chronic insomnia and have had prescribed pretty much all the Z-drugs and most Benzo's and might have been able to give some advice.
Xanax really is a shit one for sleep as are most short life ones (i.e etizolam) as the possibility of inter dose withdrawal is very high.
Please be careful out there people and remember we are all built differently. For example i take dihydrocodience (prescribed) on a regular basis that barely stops my knee pain but causes my partner…

Thank you.
Honestly, I do not know why he was using Xanax. He was very informed about other GABAergics, and even sold Etizolam before Ceretropic. Also, he got bulk Xanax powder, and made a solution of it. That makes taking too much a lot easier than pills. He was too overconfident in his abilities to judge doses, and the risks involved with combinations. He just never took the risks seriously, with anything he was trying.
