Unfortunately, I have some bad news. Jason (/u/Guacamolium), my business partner and co-founder of Ceretropic has died. He was found dead in his apartment on Friday afternoon. He had not come in for a few days, and was not answering his phone. I got a little worried, so /u/Synzael and I decided to go check on him. After he did not answer, we decided to get the police to come down. When they entered his apartment, they found him dead inside.
The toxicology screen will not be back for a few weeks. However, Jason had been having a few problems with Xanax and drinking. He was never one to be careful with his own safety, and would often have horrible insomnia. This led to him turning to Xanax and alcohol to try and get a little bit of sleep some nights. I let him know how irresponsible that was, but he never really got the message. There were a few occasions that I found him passed out after taking too much. I made him get into a substance abuse program, which he had been going to regularly. However, I never felt he was taking it seriously enough. I am so sorry and saddened to hear of this loss. My thoughts go out to Jason's family, and condolences to you, Jason's friends, and the whole Ceretropic team.
I am reflecting on the need to be careful with the things we consume, and really considering the potential risks.
I can't help but add, I strongly feel the need for research and improvement of substances like Iboga that can help with addiction, and safer, better and more effective alternatives to alcohol and benzos out there for stress, depression and insomnia. I know they are out there, that they can be developed, and I really wish that they would have already been there for people like Jason.
Thanks for sharing a positive message about helping people that are going through a tough time, and being safe. I hope this will help something good come out of this tragedy.

Thank Mark. It was very shocking for us. You just never anticipate something like this happening.
I know this has made me reflect on the safety of things. I'm guilty of being a little reckless with my own safety at time too. I know I am going to strive for safety even more than I did before. I hope that I can make good of Jason's legacy, and continue to bring out some of his ideas. He just really wanted to push the nootropics space forward. That was his ultimate goal in life.
