Unfortunately, I have some bad news. Jason (/u/Guacamolium), my business partner and co-founder of Ceretropic has died. He was found dead in his apartment on Friday afternoon. He had not come in for a few days, and was not answering his phone. I got a little worried, so /u/Synzael and I decided to go check on him. After he did not answer, we decided to get the police to come down. When they entered his apartment, they found him dead inside.
The toxicology screen will not be back for a few weeks. However, Jason had been having a few problems with Xanax and drinking. He was never one to be careful with his own safety, and would often have horrible insomnia. This led to him turning to Xanax and alcohol to try and get a little bit of sleep some nights. I let him know how irresponsible that was, but he never really got the message. There were a few occasions that I found him passed out after taking too much. I made him get into a substance abuse program, which he had been going to regularly. However, I never felt he was taking it seriously enough. I had hoped that he had things under control, but always feared that something would happen. I just figured it would be him getting in trou…

I'm sorry for your loss.
I also take xanax for insomnia and anxiety reasons, and I recall having a mini-freak out the other day when I made myself a drink and drank half of it before I remembered I had taken a xanax. They were both in very small amounts, but it jarred me just realizing how thoughtless you can get sometimes.
I'm going to actively allow myself to recognize this as a wake-up call. Please, please, please be careful if you take alprazolam--whether it be recreationally or medically--it is certainly not a drug you should disrespect.
