Jarrow Formulas Rhodiola Rosea - Effects?

Original post in this thread

I am experiencing very mixed effects with this herb, most times it's a slight mood improvement or reduced fatigue but then again I was taking St. John's Worts at the same time. Really what I am looking for is a natural herbal supplement that will reduce fatigue but in more in-your-face sort of way, in that the effects are very noticeable. Edit: I've placed in an order for Super Rhodiola sometime this mid-week, so I am looking forward to seeing how that compares to Jarrow's version.

I also hardly experience anything when I take Sulbutiamine: I've tried 200mg to 1000mg (500mg b.i.d.). Did the researchers scan the brains of the subjects after they were given Sulbutiamine?

I'm also taking 6 x fish oil which has 330mg EPA & 220mg DHA per softgel. So ~3g of EPA and DHA. I take all 6 in the morning or sometimes, 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening. Is this a bit too much? I've not noticed any negative effects, actually I feel like my vision has improved somewhat.

Jarrow Formulas® Rhodiola extract is standardized to contain a minimum of 5% rosavins, the highest potency available.

I haven't looked into this much, but there's definitely evidence out there that rosavin isn't inactive.

This review article seems to have found evidence rosavin is psychoactive. Rosavin increased spontaneous activity, decreased sleep and delayed sleep onset in anaesthetized mice.

There's conflicting data out there, for sure. However, we did some internal testing with pure rosavin, salidroside, and tyrosol, and found that rosavin made us tired. However, this was not a blinded placebo controlled test, so it's not scientific. Also, we bought and tried out a few different extracts out there, and found the high rosavin ones either did not work, or made us tired, while the high salidroside ones were stimulating. One of the best performing ones, besides ours, was the Eclectic Institute freeze dried whole spectrum rhodiola. However, that one does not have a lot of information on the amounts of each substance in it, so it's hard to say why it works so well.

I am currently trying to setup a placebo controlled blinded study on this. I am trying to work with ASU and UofA on setting it up. Then we can get some real scientific data on the matter, and even perfect our own ratios. I am sure there is a lot of room for improvement on it.

Has anyone tried Excelerol? I'm interested in trying it because it is apparently one of the best nootropics out there, but I'm a bit suspicious because I've never heard anyone talk about it on this subreddit.

Super Rhodiola?

Replying to cryptohasan · Yes, that was the one that popped up when I researched. I haven't tried it or the plant extract. I just want to know which one would yield better results (aka is stronger). I'm not

We renamed it Salidrosol, and moved it over to Natrium Health. Ceretropic is no more, unfortunately. We shut that down earlier this year. It's the same formula, though. We just renamed it for legal reasons. The idea beh
