Noopept smells/tastes like amphetamine?

Hi everyone, I have been reading this subreddit for a bit and have decided to give it a shot.
I found a health supplement eBay store that was near me and I ordered some l-theanine and noopept.
Decided to try the noopept today and I was completely shocked at the smell. I have, years ago, used amphetamine and I can recognise the smell and taste, I opened up the bag of noopept and it was exactly the same.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Do they both just smell/taste the same? Could I have been sold noopept years ago?

There is a methyl group off the nitrogen. This makes the molecule more lipid soluble, and changes the affinities. N-methylamphetamine (meth) actually has a nigher affinity for the SERT than MDMA. It's much higher than regular D-amphetamine. This alters the effects. Plus, the lipid solubility makes it pass the blood brain barrier faster, and stay in the body longer. It's a much more euphoric and long lasting high compared to D-amp.
