Adderall: The Illusion of Greatness

First,

I would like to begin this by stating that I am not a scientist of any kind nor do I pretend to understand the complex workings of the human mind. (I am a Business Administration/Communications major and I work as a commercial real estate agent/parking garage attendant/front desk attendant for a gym.) I would simply like to personally introduce my experience with the aforementioned medication and others like it.

I felt the need to create this thread because I have read a vast majority of the posts on this subreddit and it seems that many believe that simply taking Adderall, Modafinil, Dexedrine, Ritalin, etc, etc, etc, will turn you into the superhuman production machine, capable of single-handedly conquering the world. This is simply not true.

An example of this was a post from months back in which I have no desire to search for but exists and I can confirm with my own personal experience. Essentially the questions was: "I was recently prescribed Adderall for my ADHD-I and I found that when I took the medication, I still spent hours playing videos games instead of doing what I am supposed to be dong. Isn't XXX suppose to help me?" I am assuming this was either homework…

Pardon? That is a quote from the study. Also, I was not replying to you, so I am not sure how I would be putting words in your mouth.

They are not calling adderall placebo. They are saying that people who took Adderall were more likely to think they did better on a task, even though they did not perform any better than those people that took a placebo. It was exactly what HiyaGeorgie was asking for.
