Adderall: The Illusion of Greatness

Original post in this thread

First,

I would like to begin this by stating that I am not a scientist of any kind nor do I pretend to understand the complex workings of the human mind. (I am a Business Administration/Communications major and I work as a commercial real estate agent/parking garage attendant/front desk attendant for a gym.) I would simply like to personally introduce my experience with the aforementioned medication and others like it.

I felt the need to create this thread because I have read a vast majority of the posts on this subreddit and it seems that many believe that simply taking Adderall, Modafinil, Dexedrine, Ritalin, etc, etc, etc, will turn you into the superhuman production machine, capable of single-handedly conquering the world. This is simply not true.

An example of this was a post from months back in which I have no desire to search for but exists and I can confirm with my own personal experience. Essentially the questions was: "I was recently prescribed Adderall for my ADHD-I and I found that when I took the medication, I still spent hours playing videos games instead of doing what I am supposed to be dong. Isn't XXX suppose to help me?" I am assuming this was either homework…

I agree with your post but I was hoping for something more along the lines of the illusion of greatness of oneself while on adderall; like a false perception of oneself.

This is more like a false perception of how people think they will be once they take adderral, and are surprised when nothing changes for the better in their life.

I think it's fascinating that you can recognize someones writing when they are under the influence of adderall as opposed to not. Like they beat around the same point for pages that didn't have to be more than a single statement.

Those subjects who had been given Adderall were significantly more likely to report that the pill had caused them to do a better job on the tasks they’d been given, even though their performance did not show an improvement over that of those who had taken the placebo.
