Can you develop tolerance to antihistamines ?

So, the allergy season has once again struck upon me and was wondering if it is preferable to switch between various antihistamines to have them fully effective. My favorite one has always been fexofenadine, but I found it loose its effectiveness over longer period of use. Last year, I alternated between fexo and diphenhydramine, but the adverse effects of DPH weren't that welcome.
So do you guys know if there's such a thing as tolerance to antihistamines of was it just in my head ?

You most certainly can. I take 4 Zyrtec a day for my mast cell disorder. When it first started, I only had to take one a day. Doctors just tell me to take what I need. They have no idea what causes it, or how to fix it. Fun stuff...
