What is the best nootropic for someone looking primarily for a boost of energy and motivation that's stronger than caffeine but less extreme than amphetamines?

I've been trying to get into a workout routine but I'm hitting a roadblock in regards to my motivation and energy level. I have issues sleeping so I take 6mg of melatonin each night. This works great for getting me to bed and I feel fine on the days I get to sleep in as late as I want but when I have to forcibly wake myself up early I get stuck in this cloud of lethargy and apathy where I have no energy to do anything and no motivation to even try. This, of course, makes working out, even from home, a chore and a bore.
I'm pretty new to the whole nootropics thing and I understand certain nootropics work best to help certain aspects of your life or mental processing and others won't do much of anything to help, so can anyone suggest something to give me an energy boost that's stronger than caffeine but not as jittery/euphoric as amphetamines and perhaps something to clear up the apathy and give me a little more focus and motivation?
Thanks!

Wanted to add/share - the 3mg brand of melatonin cvs (red top) is of guaranteed potency/substance/quality (source consumerlab.com albeit limited, gives good supplement analysis on whether a supplement is legit or not). I don't recall on whether the 1/5mg versions were tested.
USP certified (united states only) items are legit too. Not saying others are not, but these should be starting points if consumers (after research/health care guidance), should start from if shopping from drug/grocery stores.
p.s. no affiliation or nothing to disclose / just a medical student.

That is what I use, but I cut the pills in half. Sometimes I cut them into quarters.
