You never have Muslims like this in the mainstream media.

Those are all activities that affect yourself. They affect the way you wish to live your life.
Are you desperate to wear a picture of Mohammed on your tshirt? Do you just have to have a bomb-toting prophet on your trucker cap? Is anybody oppressing your personal wishes?
No. Of course not. The act of that depiction serves one purpose alone: to purposefully rile up other folks.

I understand your perspective, but you must see that it is not an objective one. Take South Park for instance. They make fun of every religion for one purpose, comedy. They like to push buttons so that people watch and they get ratings. It's a reactionary thing that they do, that is well within the boundaries they have set for themselves. For others it is crossing the line. Who is right? Is satire for the purpose of comedy crossing the line? What about satire for the purpose of getting your point across? What about satire for the purpose of causing a reaction? If there is a distinction, then it must be from motive. Then it is the motive that truly separates offensive from non. However, that is only in respect to the outside observer. The ones on the receiving end do not care about motive, they were offended by the action. The ones doing the action see it from a different perspective altogether. So in the end, the only way to stop the cycle is for both sides to drop it. By being able to laugh at someone's jokes about your religion, you are earning respect in their eyes. Then they will move on to something more controversial.
