Behind the Scenes at Nootropics Depot: Inside Our Pharmaceutical-Grade Testing Labs 🧪

Original post in this thread

NootropicsDepotCom · 42 points

We were recently featured in a PricePlow article that goes behind the scenes of our Tempe, AZ pharmaceutical-grade labs and testing process. It walks through how we use in-house UPLC/HPLC, custom analytical methods, and even a cell culture program to verify bioactive content and better understand how ingredients actually interact with human cells. The piece also talks about our work calling out under-dosed or misrepresented products in the wider market, and how Omnient Labs is now offering our testing capabilities to other brands to help raise quality standards across the industry.

If you’re interested in the “how” behind Nootropics Depot and why we’re so obsessive about data, it’s a solid overview worth a read.

If you feel like this is a vertically integrated company, then who TF am I to tell you otherwise. I’m just saying it’s not that vertical if you don’t control the inputs. Because the moment your sucrosomial minerals supplier tells you to go kick rocks, all that verticality falls apart. You’re more of a full-cycle dietary supplement company, but again, whatever makes you feel better. I get why you’re trying to push that narrative : your marketing team made the right call going all in on QC and R&D. I’m genuinely curious to see how it plays out.
P.S. lol And you didn't need to wrap your message into some BS story about Hawaii and Africa :)

95% of supplement brands use contract manufacturers to formulate, encapsulate, and package the final bottles. If they do any lab testing at all, they have to send off to other labs and rely on them. They use contract fulfillment companies to actual fulfill the orders, or have Amazon FBA do it. They use marketing agencies to market the products. We do all that ourselves. That's vertical integration.

What you are trying to say is stupid. Did you actually injection mold the plastic bottles you use to package things? Ohh, well then you are not vertically integrated... Did you refine the crude oil to actually make the plastic? Not vertically integrated! Do you own the container ships that transport the goods? Ohh, well then you are not vertically integrated! Did you actually mine the iron ore used to make the steel in the containers, and then do you guys actually build the containers yourselves? Ohh, well then you are not vertically integrated. What about the gasoline used in the machinery at the farms? Did you extract the crude oil yourself, then refine that crude into gasoline to use in the farm equipment you use in your farm? Not vertically integrated! Do you own the chip foundry that makes the microchips in the tractors? Sounds like you are not vertically integrated, and rely on others. Bosch could just cut you off and tell you to kick rocks, then how would you have tractors to farm the fields? Maersk could tell you to kick rocks, and then how would you transport your goods? What about Lonza, who makes the actual capsule shells? If you don't make your own capsule shells in house from raw plant cellulose, that you extracted yourself from plants you grew, on farms you own, with machines you made, you are not vertically integrated. Do you hear how stupid that sounds? Literally no company in the world is vertically integrated by your definition, much less supplement companies. Every company out there relies on partners to supply them with things that are a part of their supply chain. We are more vertically integrated than 95% of supplement companies on the market, and we are even doing things that no other supplement company in the world is doing, like culturing our own human brain cells to do in vitro bioactivity research... but if we are not growing our own cistanche plants ourselves, I guess we are not vertically integrated. Zero supplement companies in the world meet your strange definition.

I get why you’re trying to push that narrative : your marketing team made the right call going all in on QC and R&D. I’m genuinely curious to see how it plays out.

You think the marketing team made the call to build out an ISO accredited lab that has cost me tens of millions dollars to build a run, just as a marketing tactic?!? That's even dumber than than the vertically integrated statements. We are also coming up on 13 years in business now, so you are seeing how it has played out.

There are so many bullshit tongkats on the market now, especially after Huberman went on Rogan. I am just going to be very direct here, as I no longer have the time nor the energy for bullshit. Anyone selling a 200:1 ton

Reason for the decrease in Cistanche Acteosides?

It was lowered due to lab testing improvements we made to the methods. All the labs out there currently testing Cistanche are massively overstating the acteoside/verbascoside content. We went back and forth with Alkemist
