Behind the Scenes at Nootropics Depot: Inside Our Pharmaceutical-Grade Testing Labs 🧪

Original post in this thread

We were recently featured in a PricePlow article that goes behind the scenes of our Tempe, AZ pharmaceutical-grade labs and testing process. It walks through how we use in-house UPLC/HPLC, custom analytical methods, and even a cell culture program to verify bioactive content and better understand how ingredients actually interact with human cells. The piece also talks about our work calling out under-dosed or misrepresented products in the wider market, and how Omnient Labs is now offering our testing capabilities to other brands to help raise quality standards across the industry.

If you’re interested in the “how” behind Nootropics Depot and why we’re so obsessive about data, it’s a solid overview worth a read.

I saw some omnient test reports on oriveda's website already

Yep, they recently sent us samples for testing. They were finally able to get an erinacine A product that contained it. It's much different than the one they have been selling for years. That old one had no erinacines in it. This new one does. Funny enough, we bought some of the new Oriveda lion's mane ourselves when they did their launch post, and tested it. Then they independently sent sample to Omnient for testing.

Here is the batch we independently bought for market research: https://imgur.com/a/57IOlqq

Here is their old stuff that really didn't have any in there: https://imgur.com/a/k5Y2naA

So it's good they finally made a change! That's what we want in this industry. That's all I have ever advocated for. If you make a claim, you need to back it up with valid lab testing to prove it. Just like with Greg Doucette and HTLT, who took our failing lab results to heart and went out to make a product that did meet label claims, Oriveda should be given props here for doing the same. I will say that it is funny that I got shit on for years, and had my data called into question around lion's mane, and now everyone is sending my labs samples to test. I am glad people are starting to take lab testing more seriously, and that my lab is able to help them do that. It's just ironic that I was being attacked and had my reputation questioned by those very same people till recently. Ohh well... water under the bridge, I guess!

We did buy their fruting body product to test independently as well. Here are those results: https://imgur.com/a/yuqktlo

We found 0.5mg per capsule. This comes out to around 0.16% total hericenes and hericenones. That's what we are seeing in Nammex samples as well. That's pretty good.

For reference, here is our current 1:1 lions mane: https://imgur.com/a/GTHBXIq

We are getting 0.329% total hericenes and hericenones, with 1.7mg per capsule. So if you go by concentration, we are 2X as concentrated. If you go by per capsules, we are 3X. However, they are catching up.

Here is Oriveda's lion's mane fruiting body from mid 2025: https://imgur.com/a/5fj7amp

You can see there they only had 0.15mg per capsule, so 0.5mg per capsule is a good increase. Now that we created the reference standards and testing methods to measuring these things, growers can actually try and optimize for their production. In fact, we have been working with the Chinese manufacturer that supplies Oriveda as well. LOL. That supplier also now sends Omnient samples for testing. So we are doing testing for all parts of the supply chain to help get these numbers up. You would be surprised just how many people we work with in the background of the industry now. We've even shared these methods with multiple other labs, and we submitted the full method to the journal of AOAC last June. It's awaiting peer review.

Is ND done launching new products?

We are absolutely NOT done with new products. We are in the thick of development for a bunch of them. Some of them are just taking longer than expected to get perfect, so we have had a lull in releases. That's just becau

There are so many bullshit tongkats on the market now, especially after Huberman went on Rogan. I am just going to be very direct here, as I no longer have the time nor the energy for bullshit. Anyone selling a 200:1 ton

u/MisterYouAreSoDumb asked me to post the Lab Testing COAs I received from Bulk Supplements (Below)

That's about what I expected. These are just internal COAs. To start, analyzing nitrogen content is not an appropriate methodology for amino acid assay. This is the same shit China got away with on infant formula and spi
