It's my pleasure! As you can tell, I am just very pissed off by all the bullshit happening in this industry. These brands literally ruin the market on things. As another example, take Cistanche. We did a bunch of work to develop a highly standardized Cistanche extract, bring it out, then get people excited about all the benefits. We were one of the first on Amazon, and certainly the first with a high standardization. We quickly became the highest selling Cistanche on Amazon. However, people watch shit like that. They use tools to see what is popular and selling, then try to jump and and steal sales. That's exactly what happened. Brands like Etta Vita came in and started selling what they claimed was the same standardization as us, but half the price. Our sales dropped 70%! SEVENTY PERCENT! Everyone jumped over to them. Well there is no way to make that standardization work at that price. They were selling for retail lower than our cost. It was impossible, so we bought some to test. Guess what we found? It had 50X less actives than ours. FIFTY TIMES LESS ACTIVES. Then we tested some of the other brands, and they were not even Cistanche at all. So they were just lying to trick consumers. What do you think happened over time? As more and more consumer bought these other products claiming to be the same thing as us, but that were fake or had 50X less, they were not getting the effect they anticipated. So over time demand for Cistanche as a whole cratered. These fucking lying fraudulent fucks DESTROYED the whole momentum for the plant itself. Now there are a bunch of people on Amazon who think Cistanche is bullshit that doesn't work, because these morally bankrupt people jumped in to try and make a quick buck.
This is a microcosm of the entire supplement market. People hear good things about some supplement, then go and buy from a brand they find, either on Amazon or Google. These brands lie, make up standardizations, pay for reviews, and use flashy marketing to seem like more than they are. Consumers then get the products, try them, get no effects, then write off the entire supplement industry as snake oil. The bad actors in this industry (and there are a lot of them) literally eat away at the credibility of supplements as a whole. Every year this turns more and more consumers off to the idea that supplements can help them. Every year it makes more and more people think the entire industry is a scam. Then we have to sit here spending decades trying to force this industry to be better, and then watch as we get compared to the same bottom basement shit everyone else is selling.
