I've read that NMN supplements are frequently contaminated with LPS (endotoxin) - does ND test for that?

Oh I see what you're saying.
I think the funny thing is people don't even need to have a profit motive to be on team NMN or team NR. People get pretty heated without that, but I imagine you feel even more attached to these things when there's also profits involved.
I can see some good reasons for having one company control a compound like NMN, it would mean they'd have motivation to get it through as many clinical trials as is economically feasible. Open source compounds tend to remain under researched due to lack of funding. Our current system kind of sucks, there ought to be better funding mechanisms.
B3 metabolism is complex and there are so many natural versions that it really makes it easy to stir up confusion for profit. I sometimes wonder whether just plan niacin is really the best, but enough doubt can be generated to get me to fork over the extra money for one of the fancy ones.

I get being attached to things when they are your life's work, trust me. I've been through hell building this company up, so I am certainly emotionally attached to our work and the nootropics community in general. If I wasn't, I wouldn't still be here a decade later. I'm attached to the science of improving human health and cognition. I go where the data takes me, which is why I sell both NR and NMN, along with hundreds of other products. What I am not doing is latching myself to a single one, then trying to discredit the rest, like these guys seem to be doing. Also, if new research came out saying something I was selling was not safe, and the data was sound, I would absolutely change my tune on it. I wish everyone in the nootropics and longevity community could just come together and productively work together to find the real truth. I get that there is a lot of money in this, and many people get really weird when lots of money is involved. However, this is also people's lives! What we do to improve the lives of those around us matters. You are right, though. Our system totally sucks!

As a drug, I agree. More research is better, and that can only be funded if someone has the ability/motivation to. However, that shouldn't exclude it from being able to be used as a dietary supplement. If it helps people live longer better lives, making it more difficult for people to access is in direct contrast to trying to help people. You can get prescription vitamin D. You can also supplement it. There is room for drugs and supplements in our system, and I think they compliment each other, rather than are at odds with each other.
