Is Berberine safe to use?

So I found this journal made back in 2014 specifying that Berberine may cause double strand DNA breaks in some circumstances and has a pro-oxidative effect in cancer cell lines. I know that this may not necessarily translate to in-vivo human use of the supplement, but is this something that is considered at all when taking it, would have a similar oxidative or DNA damaging effect on healthy cells as well?
If so, how do we go about reducing potential DNA risks to users of Berberine. Any stack recommendations or compounds to better protect DNA while getting the benefit of Berberine?

Not trying to raise the alarm, just want to figure out if this is cause for concern or something that should be touched more upon.

I think you’re more appreciated than you think. I’m not saying that to undermine your current situation/state of mind because I understand that at the end of the day, your happiness is only something you can gauge. I know there’s more to your situation than whether you’re appreciated or not but I know for sure you have many fans rooting for you, look up to you, seek advice from you, and I know for a fact that your products have changed countless lives for the better. I read about it here all the time. With that said, I know I’m appreciated too but it doesn’t seem to be fulfilling or enough to make me feel content.
You’ve done a lot for the community. It’s time you do what’s best for you. As an early BTC pioneer and owner of a robust and successful business, I know you don’t need the money. If push comes to shove, there’s nothing wrong with stepping away for a year and trusting your team to maintain ND. Sure there won’t be new products but that’s ok. You’ve done enough innovating and deserve to do what you want for a bit. Step away, trust your team to keep the business running and to ensure that the products continue to be pure, and re-examine what you want out of life.
You’re smart and 70% of my suggestion is me preaching to myself but it seems ripe for us to start thinking about ourselves, it’ll be better for both of us, and our companies in the long run considering dimin…

Thanks for that! I know I do have a lot of support, and many people do appreciated all that I have done to push this community and industry forward. However, there is a LOT that I don't talk about that happens in the background. I am very good at keeping the public image positive for customers, as that is kind of my job. However, that is not the reality of the back end situation. We have over 80 employees now, and we are doing insanely complex things every day. I am sure I don't need to tell you what it takes to keep an operation like that going. It's been a battle for me since day one, but since the pandemic started it has really gotten harder. The past year has been especially difficult, and I can honestly say it has been the most challenging year of my life. There are things happening that nobody here can possibly imagine. They are not small things, either, and I cannot just walk away from it. I wish I could, but I don't have that luxury. I have to take on the burden of navigating us through it all. I've also been let down and lied to by many different people, and after a while that takes a toll on your psyche. It gets exhausting after a while. I have forgotten what it even means to think of what I want for myself. I have kind of shut that portion of my brain off. What I want doesn't really factor in at the moment. It's all just doing what I have to do to keep things moving forward. You are right. At some point that will have to change, whether that is by choice or by force.
