Is Berberine safe to use?

So I found this journal made back in 2014 specifying that Berberine may cause double strand DNA breaks in some circumstances and has a pro-oxidative effect in cancer cell lines. I know that this may not necessarily translate to in-vivo human use of the supplement, but is this something that is considered at all when taking it, would have a similar oxidative or DNA damaging effect on healthy cells as well?
If so, how do we go about reducing potential DNA risks to users of Berberine. Any stack recommendations or compounds to better protect DNA while getting the benefit of Berberine?

Not trying to raise the alarm, just want to figure out if this is cause for concern or something that should be touched more upon.

Thank you for sacrificing your well-being and continuing to give a shit about us. I never thought some random guy on the internet would have more of an impact on my life than people I know IRL. Took me a while to find the right stack, but I've finally managed to get a grip on my years of poor sleep/mood; starting to feel human again. It was nice being able to blindly order random shit to experiment with, knowing it wouldn't be harmful to my body.
When's the last time you took a vacation? Go drink beer and hang out with spider monkeys for 2 weeks. Maybe it will give you time to think and figure out how you can push forward in a way that also makes you happy. Your team is competent, share more of the burden with them.

I have not had a real vacation in a very long time. I don't have that luxury at the moment, unfortunately. The moment I can, I certainly will. It's just not in the cards at the current time.
