Or are liposomes just not worth it since a higher dose of a non liposome would lead to the same effects as the low dose liposome while still being more cost effective?

The liposomes on the market are frauds. They are fake. None of them are real. That doesn't mean that liposomes can't exist, or that they wouldn't be good if they were real. We are working with an Australian company that has created a real liposome of ginkgo, for example. It's a very complex process to make, though, and they have SEM/TEM to prove they have really created liposomes. Everyone else is lying to consumers. It's a massive scam right now, and nobody is talking about it. Just ask any of these random companies selling liposomes for lab data proving they have created liposomal particles. See what they say to you. I think you already know all the answers you will (or won't) get.
Some things do warrant liposomes. The interesting thing is that it doesn't do what most people think it does. Take the liposomal gingko we are working on with the Australian company. It doesn't make the ginkgo more bioavailable. Actually, our ginkgo is much faster acting and stronger than theirs. We have tested them back to back. What it does do is slow down the absorption and spread it out over a longer period. This smooths out the effects, and makes them last all day. For some people that is ideal, as our ginkgo can be too stimulating for them. In those cases, taking this ginkgo liposome can help them get the effects of ginkgo, but smoothed out and lengthened. It's also different for each specific compound. Some might have their bioavailability increased. Others might not. Everyone is just using it as a marketing gimmick right now to sell higher priced products.
Have you seen the Portlandia episode where they put birds on everything? Put a bird on it! This is like that. Supplement? Put a liposome on it! Vitamin? Put a liposome on it! Just slap liposomal on the product label and confuse all the consumers who don't know any better!
