Is Berberine safe to use?

So I found this journal made back in 2014 specifying that Berberine may cause double strand DNA breaks in some circumstances and has a pro-oxidative effect in cancer cell lines. I know that this may not necessarily translate to in-vivo human use of the supplement, but is this something that is considered at all when taking it, would have a similar oxidative or DNA damaging effect on healthy cells as well?
If so, how do we go about reducing potential DNA risks to users of Berberine. Any stack recommendations or compounds to better protect DNA while getting the benefit of Berberine?

Not trying to raise the alarm, just want to figure out if this is cause for concern or something that should be touched more upon.

I hear ya man. Its my life too. It’s frustrating for sure but the process of navigating back to a good place is a difficult one that many aren’t willing to face and sets apart the winners from losers. Perfectionism is a curse and a blessing. You can get away with giving up occasionally but giving up incessantly isn’t an option.

It's a decade of it for me now, though. The shit I have dealt with, and the shit I am still dealing with, would floor people. I am just so tired, and sometimes it feels like none of it really even matters. Brand selling fake shit are still dominating, and the general public couldn't give two shits. Giving up isn't an option, but it sure sounds nice sometimes.
