Could you elaborate on the Kratom project with waters? What exactly is it that y’all are looking to accomplish with this machine?

The state of lab testing in the kratom industry is bad. We are looking to change that with the help of Waters, and now CAMAG as well. So we will be creating ID and assay methods with concurrent application notes that other labs can use with Waters and CAMAG machines. We already developed our own ID methods for kratom. Now we want to expand that to assay, and hopefully we can find some unique compounds/bands that are strain-specific. This could allow us to create methods that could tell one kratom strain from another.
Both Waters and CAMAG have been working with us on things like this because they want to expand more into the supplement industry, and we are pretty much one of the only labs in the world doing novel shit like this. Waters has been big in pharma for a long time, so we are helping them to understand how to work in the supplement industry. It's very different than pharma, and their normal business model is too restrictive and expensive for people in the supplement industry. Them working with us should help change that a bit. CAMAG is restricted by their Swiss ownership. They can't mess with some of the more novel things, like kratom and cannabis, so we are working with them to do the work that they can't, while they help us with the equipment and practical science side. At some point our lab might be a showpiece lab for both CAMAG and Waters. We will get access to new software and equipment, along with support from their science teams, and in turn they can use our lab to show off their software and equipment to potential customers in the real world. My lab director has flown out to Waters' headquarters multiple times to help them work on their next generation HPLC machines, and we have beta software from them running in our lab for a year now. Most of Waters' pharma customers would never allow beta software in their facilities, due to the extremely restrictive nature of what they do. However, we don't have that limitation, so we can help Waters make their new software and hardware better, and in turn build our partnerships with them.
