“Contains Triterpenoids”. Red reishi

ND is really good about including the exact amount of active ingredient in each dose of their product. That and price is why I exclusively get my mushrooms from them. However, the one exception to this seems to be the red Reishi. While most competitors list the exact triterpine content, ND just says that the product contains triterpinoids. Is there a reason for that? I currently take the 1:1 daily. It’s really well priced as far as mushroom supps go and the beta glucan content is robust, as is the case for all ND products.

Any updates on the results?
I’m very interested in what comes out the new mushroom project. Big fan of mushrooms as cordyceps is my favorite.

Well our enzyme method we came up with didn't work. It's not hydrolyzing things in the way it looked like it would on paper. Our mushroom researcher is FINALLY HERE, though! He's been in our lab for 2 weeks now working on the erinacine/herecenone project. We've made great progress in that time, so things are moving along quickly there. We all sat down and brainstormed a bit to try and find a solution to the other beta-glucan problem, and I think we have a solution. It's going to use our gas chromatograph with derivatization with Fmoc. This should allow us to be able to pull out the specific beta-glucans, and tell people exactly how many 1,3 and 1,6 branched beta-glucans there are. He also has been testing ergosterol and ergosterol peroxide. I think we are going to add that to the list of QC analyses to determine mushroom quality. You want high levels of ergosterol and low levels of ergosterol peroxide. So we are making progress. I had hoped our quick enzymatic method would work, but it is going to take a bit more complex methodologies to get there. We will get there, though. The erinacines thing is moving fast at least!
