Help Taking Magnolia Bark
Original post in this thread

Recently I got a sample sized Magnolia Bark Extract (95%) and have been experimenting on how to get the best effect. Orally at doses up to 300MG it does hardly anything, I have even tried 300 then another 200 a couple hours later. However sublingually it has quite a profound effect at only 100-200mg. But it absolutely destroys my mouth taking it that way, like it feels like I severely burned my tongue. Reading reviews on the stuff I see a mix of people saying you have to take it sublingually, and others saying sublingual burns the mouth, so I know I am not alone in this.
Does anyone know a way to maybe neutralize the powder so you can take it sublingually, or do I just need to try a high dose orally like 500-700mg? Is there anything that might increase the oral bioavailability?

I think I feel it sublingually because the substance sits in my mouth. If I toss and wash it's not really in contact for very long. It definitely has something to do with direct contact on the tongue. From other responses I have gotten it sounds like mixing it in water then swishing the diluted solution around avoids most of the irritation.
It's weird because the irritation is pretty much isolated to the top of my tongue, elsewhere in the mouth seems to be majorly unaffected.
It possibly could be some sort of contact dermatitis that many people are susceptible to. I can't find many people who are reporting sublingual usage, but so far the majority I have found say they have the same reaction.

Yeah, sounds more like a reaction to the powder than a burn or caustic effect.
