ND team, first, thank you for all that you do!
Not sure if it has been brought to your attention, but the images on your website have been compressed to the point they are virtually illegible. Here is the label preview for lemon balm: https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-cebedmpn/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/329/3557/Lemon-Balm-Extract-250g-2x6-LA\_\_27304.1584724761.jpg. The label for micromag powder is equally poor. This effect does not appear to be consistent, as bacopa's label preview seems perfectly fine.
It was a bit annoying, but not a huge deal. I know you guys run a tight ship, so I figured you would like to know.

Google penalizes you if you don't compress the images on your pages.
Technically this isn't the case. There's no ranking penalty for not compressing images. More of a user experience thing, and obviously it's good to speed up pages whenever possible. Generally, G just likes to see a fast loading page, but beyond a certain point you're not gaining any "points" for further compression. Use PNG's instead of JPG's and lossless compression to keep text legible.
If BigCommerce is compressing your images, you probably shouldn't compress them at all before uploading.

Are you sure about that? We have gotten conflicting information from other SEO people. We have been told that Google penalizes pages that serve up uncompressed images. Of course not even Google gives you straight answers on things, and most SEO companies are using their best guess based on the data they have available.
